Eating more sweets which contains oil and ghee causes indigestion and loss of appetite problems.This sweet medicine(lehiyam in tamil) has been prepared and consumed by us from quite a long time during Diwali to treat indigestion and loss of appetite problems. This can be prepared at any time as the ingredients are easily available everywhere.This remedy can be called as Indigestion medicine( jeerana lehiyam in tamil) or Diwali medicine(deepavali lehiyam in tamil). This remedy lasts long so use spoon and store it in glass bottle.
Ingredients:
- Cumin seeds-10 gm
- Pepper-10 gm
- Jaggery-100 gm
- Bark of long pepper plant(kandan thippili in tamil)-10 gm
- Oregano seeds/Carom Seeds (Omam in tamil)-10 gm
- Cardamom-as needed
- Dried long pepper fruit (Arisi thippili in tamil)-10 gm
- Gingelly oil-10 ml
- Ginger juice-50 ml
- Cow’s ghee-20 ml
- Dry ginger(chukku in tamil)-10 gm
- Honey-20 ml
Preparation:
- Grind ginger to get its juice
- Roast Cumin seeds till golden brown and take it in a bowl
- Roast pepper till golden brown and add it to the bowl
- Roast carom Seeds till golden brown and add it to the bowl
- Roast bark of long pepper plant(kandan thippili in tamil) till golden brown and add it to the bowl
- Roast dried long pepper fruit till golden brown and add it to the bowl
- Roast dry ginger till golden brown and add it to the bowl
- Roast cardamom till golden brown and add it to the bowl
- Grind all the roasted ingredients to get its powder
- Take a bottom thick pan, dissolve jaggery with ½ cup of water. Strain for impurities and boil the syrup in low flame
- Add the roasted powder little by little and stir it well
- Add ghee to it and stir it well
- Add gingelly oil and boil it by stirring it
- Add ginger juice little by little and boil it till it reaches jam like consistency
- Turn off the flame
- Cool it completely and store it in a glass bottle
Usage:
- Taste and eat 5 gm of this sweet medicine daily twice(morning and evening) after food
- Drink Lukewarm water after eating this
