The food we eat daily when modified a little can be a medicine for many health problems. This banana stem side dish(poriyal) helps to purify blood and it removes hairs in intestines naturally. This requires ingredients which are readily available in your kitchen cabinet.
- Banana stem-a cup
- Asafoetida powder-1/4 tsp.
- Turmeric powder-as needed
- Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp.
- Cumin seeds-as needed
- Sliced onion-a handful
- Sliced green chilly-as needed
- Curry leaves-as needed
- Coconut milk-as needed
- Himalayan rock salt-as needed
- Sesame/Gingelly oil-2 tsp.
- Cut banana stem into small pieces
- Cut onion, green chilly into small pieces
- Put sliced banana stem in water or buttermilk as the color may change to black
- Boil 2 tsp. of gingelly oil in a pan
- Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, onion, green chilly and curry leaves
- Saute it well
- Add sliced banana stem and sauté it
- Add asafoetida powder, turmeric powder and Himalayan salt and sauté it well
- Add coconut milk and cook it for 5 minutes by covering it with a lid
- Turn off the flame and transfer it to a bowl
- Eat it weekly twice
