Ooty Flower Show 2018 at Botanical Garden

My mom used to tell that she has to visit Ooty once in her lifetime. I don’t know what made her crazy with Ooty but after visiting the places in Ooty, I really admit that it is the Queen of Hills. I have visited Kodaikanal hill station, Munnar Hill Station  but nothing can be compared with Ooty Hill Station. The climate is super cool and the place is colorful. I had already visited Ooty once when I was at College but this trip is the best because this time it is during the famous Ooty Flower Show. Flowers and colors filled our eyes and satisfied our soul. 🙂

Ooty hill station is about 86 Km from Coimbatore and about 158 km from Mysore. You can reach Ooty by bus, train and flight. The nearest Railway Station is Udagamandalam and nearest airport is Coimbatore.

Coming to the trip, we have planned to go by train till Coimbatore and so we booked tickets few weeks before the journey. My hubby booked a hotel to Stay and Xylo vehicle to pickup  from Coimbatore through his friends. Eventhough we booked everything in advance except the cab, we were not sure about going to the trip till the last moment as they were so many barriers infront of us. Usually all my trips will be the sudden one coz planned trips never happen for me 🙁

Somehow by God’s grace, we all packed our things and started to Nagercoil Railway Station around 8 p.m . We packed our dinner in banana leaf. My mom’s food in banana leaf, kattu choru I love the most. As mom was at my home, it was easy for me to pack the dinner for everyone. My sissy brought Tuna fish curry ,Tuna fish fry and Vermicelli payasam. We got into the train and after settling down, had our dinner joyfully. It was a yummy, delicious dinner.

We reached coimbatore around 7.45 a.m and the cab was ready to pick up from railway station. As we all slept well at night, we were fresh and happy. We had our breakfast @ Hotel Annapoorna A/C . After breakfast, we started our trip to Ooty. Travelling through the hairpin bends is really lovely and I enjoyed it thoroughly. We were chatting and having fun all through the travel and we reached Ooty around 12.30 p.m .

We have booked our room at White Residency, Lovedale junction, Ooty. The rooms are bit costly as it is peak season. The rooms had well furnished cupboards, TV , Intercomm , Heater and all the facilities. We refreshed ourselves quickly. We had meals with fish fry at Classic Restaurant. The food was not up to the mark and so we didn’t visit the hotel from then eventhough it is near to the room.

First we went to see the Flower Show at Botanical Garden. The entrance fee was 30 INR for adults and 15 INR for children below 10 years The garden is open all the days of the week from 7 a.m to 6 . Such a big crowd to visit it but as my hubby’s friend helped, we went into the park quickly without waiting.

When we went into the park, myriad of flowers welcomed us. What a lovely sight!!! I have never seen a park with these much of flowers. It is indeed a worth watch. Colorful greenish vegetation. Few pictures for you,

There is a glass house inside which there are varieties of flowers. Few pictures for you,

A doll which is decorated with flowers mesmerized us. It is really beautiful.

Mettur dam was constructed using flowers and it was wonderful.

Words are less to describe the beauty of the botanical garden, esp. the flower show. After capturing photos of the scenic beauty we left the garden with eyes filled with colors. We went to Rose Garden next. I will write a separate post with pictures of it.Stay tuned.
